Built for the Royal Naval Training College of Dartmouth in 1959, A fleet of identical yachts are back sailing together for charter and teenage adventure holidays.
The magical master, Morgan Giles, created six identical yachts for the Royal Navy in 1959, the six, all delivered on time, were to set a benchmark in Sail Training.
Thousands of young naval cadets learnt to handle these thoroughbred custom yachts, built for performance and stability, enjoying their first experiences of match racing identical boats.
The yachts were built, with no expense spared, for the Admiralty. The teak purchased directly from Burma and bought back to the Teignmouth boatyard on a Naval Frigate!
Classicsail now owns three of these beautiful vessels, all having undergone an exacting refit in 2015 and ready for the 2018 season. Our aim is to offer Chichester Harbour and Solent based sail and race charters to all who would love to sail competitively on lovely period yachts from a bygone era.
